Entrepreneurship often begins with identifying a problem. For Tanuj Agarwal and Aditi Nahata Agarwal, it began with a simple yet profound question: What if children were taught not just to excel academically, but to become kind, confident and emotionally resilient individuals?
They are bringing that vision to life with Dibber International Preschool, Ballygunge, introducing parents to an international early childhood education model inspired by Nordic pedagogy.Together, the founders are focused on creating an institution that blends international best practices with the cultural values and aspirations of Indian families. Their approach reflects Dibber’s Nordic philosophy, which combines play-based learning, emotional well-being and holistic development while encouraging children to learn at their own pace.
The Ballygunge campus itself has been intentionally designed to support children’s cognitive and emotional development. Minimal, thoughtfully organised classrooms, calming colour palettes and open learning environments are intended to reduce distractions while encouraging independence and exploration.
“We want every child who walks into Dibber to know that they are valued. When children feel secure, respected and loved, they naturally become curious learners and compassionate individuals,” says Aditi.
As Kolkata’s demand for globally relevant yet emotionally grounded education continues to grow, the founders believe the future of learning lies in balancing academic excellence with life skills, emotional intelligence and environmental responsibility.
With the launch of Dibber International Preschool in Ballygunge, Tanuj Agarwal and Aditi Nahata Agarwal hope to contribute to a larger conversation about redefining success-not by asking children to fit into a system, but by creating a system that celebrates every child’s individuality. They believe that the strongest foundations for leadership, empathy and lifelong learning are built long before a child enters primary school.
