Manjri Sinha : A Journey of Resilience, Literature, and Lifelong Learning
Manjri Sinha, is a remarkable example of resilience, reinvention, and lifelong learning. Born in Allahabad (presently Prayagraj), she completed her schooling in Kanpur and Delhi, and pursued her college and university education in Guwahati, where her writing journey first began through competitions and accolades, including a cash prize from Lion’s Club Gauhati. An advocate by profession and a Public Notary for ten years, she took a four-decade break from writing after early marriage to fulfill family responsibilities. In 2001, shortly after completing a Post Graduate Diploma in Cyber Law from Amity Law College, Delhi, she suffered a severe neurological illness that left her wheelchair-bound. Yet, what followed was not surrender but strength—she rebuilt her life with determination, opened a Documentation Centre from her home, continued her notary work for a decade, and gradually rekindled her long-suppressed passion for writing.
Today, Manjri Sinha is an award-winning author with seven solo books and multiple co-authored works across Hindi and English poetry and memoirs, including Khwahishein, Meri Yaadon Ka Dhuan, ChalteChalte, Just Walk with Me, Let Me Find Out Myself, My Encounter with Reality, and Banaras Ke Ghat. A winner of the TRI 2025 and TRI 2026 Awards for her English poetry collections and nominated for multiple national and international honors, she has also been recognized with an Honorary Doctorate by the World Culture and Environment Protection Commission for her environmental contributions. Dr. Ruby Chandra : Advancing Agricultural Research and Championing Millets for Sustainable Development
Dr. Ruby Chandra is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Botany at NLS College, under Jai Prakash University, Chhapra. With over 12 years of teaching and research experience across various institutions in different states of India, she has established herself as a dedicated academician and researcher. Her doctoral research, titled “An Investigation into Cyanobacterial Biodiversity of Rice Fields with Special Reference to Nitrogen Fixing Strains,” reflects her deep commitment to sustainable agriculture and environmental microbiology. In recognition of her academic excellence, she was honored with the Outstanding Ph.D Thesis Award by the International Society For Agriculture Innovation And Development. She has also received the Best Presentation Award for presenting at the National Webinar on “International Year of Millets 2023” and successfully organized a National Webinar on the same theme at Jai Prakash University, Chapra, contributing significantly to the academic discourse surrounding millets and sustainable farming.
Dr. Chandra has been at the forefront of promoting millet awareness for nutritional security and economic sustainability. She authored an article on “International Year of Millets 2023,” published in the September 2023 edition of Bal Kilkari, and another insightful piece titled “Why Are Millets Good For You” in the 2024 annual issue of SAMTA. Extending her outreach beyond academia, she shared her expertise through All India Radio programs, including “Mote Anajon ki Khetike Arthik Pahlu” (15 February 2024) and “Mote Anajon ki Kheti ka Arthik Vishleshan” (23 February 2025), where she highlighted the economic benefits of millet cultivation for farmers. She has also authored a millet recipe book titled Health with Taste – Mission Millets, blending nutrition with practical culinary guidance. As an editorial member of the Edwin Group of Journals and a contributor to scientific literature through research papers, book chapters, and seminars, Dr. Ruby Chandra continues to play a pivotal role in advancing agricultural awareness, scientific research, and community education in India.
