Banaarsi Dass Arya College, situated on Haquiqat Road in Jalandhar Cantt., re-accredited by NAAC, Bangalore, and earlier known as B.D. Araya Girls College owes its inception to two great visionaries-Lala Bishamber Dass Ji, a philanthropist, and Sh. Ramesh Chander Javed ji, an educationist, from Jalandhar Cantt., who dreamt of providing a place of higher education for girls in this area. The aim was to cater to the girls of Jalandhar Cantt., and the nearly 100 plus villages surrounding the cantonment area. Thus, the college founded in 1970 has always adapted itself to the changing times, focusing on global competency. Today, the farsightedness of our founding father stands as a living embodiment in the form of this premiere institution of higher learning, carrying forward the inspiring motto, Priyam Sarvasya Pashyat, meaning, “Welfare for All”.
Up-gradation, being the latest catchword, our college has introduced co-education to provide a holistic education to the students to keep them abreast of the latest developments in the field of knowledge. We offer undergraduate and post-graduate courses in the fields of Humanities, Commerce, Science and Computer Science- a combination of traditional, theoretical, practical and vocational subjects.
